The Northern Michigan Gift
and Souvenir Show returns to Boyne Highlands Resort in Harbor Springs,
Michigan on April 17-19, 2011. The show’s amazing 58 year run has made
it the biggest little show in the nation. Because of its modest size,
there’s not room for every manufacturer to be at this show, but all the
best ones are. Over the years the unique wholesale order writing show
has been honed into an acute “who’s who” of the gift and souvenir
industry. The exhibitors who show here are seen in all the bigger
markets throughout the country and make wise choices as to where they
show.
One of the show’s appeals is its setting at a destination golf and ski
resort in northern Michigan. It literally brings the show to the buyer;
the Mom and Pop seasonal, coastal shops which service the area’s resort
trade. The show’s dates are positioned to be a last chance shopping
opportunity before these businesses open their doors for the busy season
ahead.
This year the show has actually gotten easier for reps and buyers to
come together. The beautiful Boyne Highlands Resort which is owned and
operated by Boyne USA (the 3rd largest ski resort company in the world)
is offering reps and buyers the unprecedented rate of $69 per room per
night in their picturesque Scottish Highlands style main lodge hotel
nestled between the foot of the ski slopes and 3 championship golf
courses. This very attractive rate makes the choice of where to stay an
easy decision. Through negotiations with show management and the resort,
the new rate structure was developed to address the challenges in both
the resort and gift industry and further foster a unique show where
everyone can afford to stay and play where they get their business done.
It’s so much nicer to wake up fresh and have that second day to make
good buying decisions at market.
The show has been taking place at the same place and on the same dates
for well over 30 years and savvy Michigan buyers do not miss it. It has
been happening long enough where it is anticipated and relied upon each
year. Buyers have come to expect a “certain level” with the “Boyne Show”
and are never disappointed.
